2 Officers Injured in Yuba City Accident on Highway 99 and Bridge Street
YUBA CITY, CA (January 26, 2022) – Monday night, officers arrested Christian Cervantes after a police chase ended in a crash on Highway 99.
The incident started when 21-year old Christian Cervantes stole a city parks recreation department-owned car at Lloyd Park. Responding police officers managed to quickly catch up to the speeding thief. Then, Cervantes drove to Yuba City Boat Dock where he started doing donuts in the docking area.
Moreover, Christian Cervantes reportedly attempted to ram officers multiple times before getting stuck on a levee embankment. Authorities used K9 units to extricate the suspect out of the stolen vehicle.
Furthermore, another police vehicle responding to the pursuit was struck by another vehicle on Highway 99 and Bridge Street. Officers said that two officers sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested and booked the thief, 21-year old Christian Cervantes, into the Sutter County Jail. Officers detained him for assault with a deadly weapon, theft of a vehicle, resisting arrest, and evading officers in a vehicle pursuit.
