Christian Best Killed in Skateboard Collision on Verde Street [Victorville, CA]

Skateboarder Fatally Struck by Bus at Hesperia Road Intersection

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (May 24, 2018) – On Thursday morning, a young skateboarder lost his life after colliding with a bus on Verde Street. Family and friends identified him as 21-year-old Christian Best of Victorville.
 
According to witness statements, Best was heading west down Verde Street around 8:52 AM when he failed to stop for an intersection. At the same time, a northbound bus was approaching. Best slammed into the rear wheel of the bus, went under the vehicle, and was run over.
 
The paramedics were able to transport the severely injured skateboarder to a nearby trauma center, where he died several hours later. The driver of the bus was reportedly unharmed and there were no other passengers inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
 
Affected areas were temporarily shut down to initiate the clearing operations and to conduct an investigation. All lanes were reopened to the public and the bus was back to its regular schedule around 1 PM.
