Christian Bennett Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on Buenaventura Boulevard near Teton Drive [Redding, CA]

1 Person Killed in Redding Auto Accident on Buenaventura Boulevard near Teton Drive

REDDING, CA (August 26, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, Christian Bennett was arrested after a fatal DUI crash on Buenaventura Boulevard.

The incident occurred at about 12:17 a.m. on Buenaventura Boulevard near Teton Drive.

Officers discovered a vehicle fully engulfed in flames in the middle of the roadway. The Redding Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze. According to the Redding Police Department, one passenger had been ejected from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with critical injuries but was later pronounced dead. 

Another passenger, who was not injured, was released. The driver, 19-year-old Bennett from Redding, was arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing serious injury or death, and driving without a license. 

Bennett was booked into the Shasta County Jail.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
