49-Year-Old Pilot Dies after Plane Accident near Summit Trail
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA (February 9, 2019) – A man was found dead Saturday afternoon following a plane crash on Mount Diablo. The victim was later identified as 49-year-old Chris de Bar, a resident of Granite Bay.
As per reports, a single-engine Mooney M20 crashed into a hillside near Summit Trail at an unknown time, Friday evening. The crash was discovered shortly before 3:00 PM the next day.
de Bar, the sole occupant of the wrecked plane, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Along with the poor weather conditions, investigators are not ruling out the possibility of mechanical failure. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
We at Sweet Law Group offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Chris de Bar. Friends described de Bar as a fun, loving person who went out of his way to give back to others. May he rest in peace.
