1 Hurt in Stockton Car Crash on 5 Freeway
STOCKTON, CA (March 6, 2020) – A CHP sergeant sustained injuries in a car crash on northbound 5 Freeway on March 4.
Responders transported the California Highway Patrol sergeant to a hospital with moderate injuries after the collision northbound of the 5 Freeway and north of Fremont Street in Stockton.
At about 8:45 a.m., the sergeant towed a car involved in a previous crash.
However, a driver in another vehicle then rear-ended the CHP patrol car. As a result, the CHP sustained moderate injuries and required hospitalization.
Meanwhile, the other driver remained at the scene.
“The Sergeant is doing well and is at home with his family. He will probably be sore for the next couple of days, so he will be taking the next couple of days off to rest… and deservedly so,” CHP Stockton stated.
Authorities ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor in the collision.
As a driver, be aware that accidents are more likely if you are not prepared. It is important to always drive within the posted speed limit. Slow down if you see traffic stalling ahead to avoid hitting other vehicles.
