CHP Responds to Highway 99 Truck Collision [Chico, CA]

Chico, CA (February 29, 2024) – CHP officers responded to a Highway 99 truck collision Thursday afternoon.

CHP officers received the 2-truck collision report at 3:37 p.m. on Southgate Avenue.

Investigators said the traffic light was changing from green to yellow. A black Dodge truck stopped for the yellow light but a white Tacoma was behind it couldn’t brake in time. As a result, The Tacoma rear-ended the Dodge.

Luckily, no major injuries have been reported in this incident.

Officers said unsafe speed caused the collision.

Meanwhile, officers closed the left turn lane and number one lane during the investigation.
