CHP Investigates Two-Vehicle Crash on 14th Street in Merced
Merced, CA (April 28, 2022) – On Thursday, a CHP officer was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on 14th Street.
The two-vehicle crash in Merced happened on April 28 near the intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
CHP said a man driving to the airport crashed into a police patrol vehicle in a Merced intersection.
Reportedly, the driver proceeded through the intersection after stopping at a stop sign on 14th, not realizing that on-coming vehicles from Martin Luther King Way did not have a stop sign.
The man’s car then struck the driver’s side of a police patrol vehicle driving through the intersection.
EMS transported the officer to the hospital after complained about pain.
Meanwhile, the other driver did not sustain injuries in the incident.
Investigators said they do not suspect drugs or alcohol as a factor in the crash. The man was allowed to continue heading to the airport apolicefter the incident.
Further investigation into this collision is ongoing.
