CHP Officer Sustained Injuries in Colton Three-Vehicle Accident on 10 Freeway
COLTON, CA (January 17, 2019) – A California Highway Patrol officer was hurt after a motorist crashed into the officer’s vehicle on Tuesday, January 15.
The collision happened shortly after 11 p.m. on the right shoulder of the westbound 10 Freeway east of the 215 Freeway in San Bernardino.
A motorist was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry in the right lane at approximately 60 mph in the rain when he crashed with another vehicle, according to Officer Sean Hodder.
The Camry continued toward the shoulder, where it collided into the left rear of a parked CHP cruiser as an officer investigated a previous accident. Hodder said that the officer was standing in the doorway of the patrol car, and the impact knocked him down. The patrol car then crashed into a tow truck.
The officer then complained of pain and was off duty Wednesday.
Always drive safely during inclement weather. When it’s raining, be mindful of your speed and keep a safe distance away from the car in front of you. Drivers often take advantage of the wet slick roads and can find themselves losing control or hydroplaning. Always remember to play it safe when the roads are wet or icy and the streets are foggy.
