CHP Investigates a Two-Vehicle Crash on State Route 49 in San Andreas
San Andreas, CA (August 19, 2021) – On Thursday, CHP Officer Cooper and Ames, the other driver sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 49.
The crash in San Andreas happened on August 19.
Reportedly, Ames was stopped at the posted stop sign, facing east on Magers Way, waiting to turn left onto northbound SR-49 while CHP Officer Cooper was traveling south on SR-49 north of Magers Way at 55 miles per hour in a marked patrol vehicle.
Moreover, Ames drove forward and entered the traffic lane, directly into the path of the CHP vehicle but Cooper was unable to avoid a collision and the front of the Tahoe impacted the left side of the Hyundai Elantra.
The Tahoe then continued to the south and left the roadway, impacting a fence.
Both vehicles came to rest off of the roadway. As a result, both drivers sustained minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
No drugs or alcohol are suspected in this collision.
CHP continues to further investigate the circumstances of this crash.
