Timothy John Atkins Arrested after Collision near Sierra Highway
SANTA CLARITA, CA (September 9, 2018) – Mulitple children were injured on Sunday afternoon, following a DUI crash on Placerita Canyon Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision involved two vehicles and took place around 4:20 PM, near Sierra Highway. Details on the events that led up to the collision are unknown at this time.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station stated that one of the involved cars had six children inside it. They suffered cuts and abrasions, with one child needing to be transported to the hospital for further observation. No other injuries were reported from the second vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle filled with children 38-year-old Timothy John Atkins of Tehachapi, was given an alcohol breath test. His test results returned showing that he was over the legal limit. He was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies on charges of DUI and injury to a child, and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
No additional information has been released to the public, as the case is currently under investigation.
