10-Year-Old Boy Dies in Torrance Car Accident
TORRANCE, CA (March 26, 2019) – A 10-year-old boy was struck and killed by a truck on Del Amo Boulevard Tuesday night.
According to police, the victim was struck by a black 2018 Ford pickup truck driven by a 58-year-old man from Los Angeles. The truck driver was traveling eastbound on Del Amo when he attempted to avoid hitting a dog. As a result, he hit the child who was crossing the street at the same time. Witnesses believe the boy was coming back from the park.
First responders arrived around 9:00 PM to the 2300 block of Del Amo Boulevard near Crenshaw Boulevard. Sergeant Ronald Harris from the Torrance Police Department stated the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Torrance Fire Department.
Due to the accident and investigation, Del Amo Boulevard was closed for several hours. Residents said road work was recently done, but drivers are still speeding through the neighborhood.
