Child Injured in Fairfield Car Accident
FAIRFIELD, CA (May 6, 2019) – A child suffered serious injuries in a car accident on 80 Freeway on May 1 in Fairfield.
The incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. on eastbound 80 Freeway near Suisun Valley Road.
According to reports, a white pickup truck struck a Freeway Service Patrol truck after driving onto the right shoulder. As a result, the child in the right front seat of the pickup truck sustained major injuries. Fairfield firefighters administered an extrication.
A CHP helicopter airlifted the pediatric patient to a pediatric trauma facility. Unfortunately, there is no report about the child’s condition. Meanwhile, the Freeway Service Patrol employee did not suffer any injuries.
CHP is currently investigating the collision. Moreover, they blocked three lanes of the freeway while working at the scene for around an hour.
