3-Year-Old Boy Dies After DUI Crash on West El Tiro Road in Tucson
Tucson, AZ (November 8, 2022) – On Tuesday, a 3-year-old boy died in a DUI crash on West El Tiro Road and North Puma Road.
Subsequently, police arrested 22-year-old Tyler Marcum on charges of aggravated assault and driving under the influence.
The deadly DUI crash happened around 7 p.m. on November 6.
PCSD said a Nissan Altima drove northbound on Puma Road, turning from a stop sign to head westbound on El Tiro Road.
Then a Hyundai Sonata, driven by a 22-year-old man, Tyler Marcum, was travelling eastbound on El Tiro. He crossed into the westbound lane and impacted the Nissan.
The Nissan has three occupants, including two children. A 3-year-old boy sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
On Tuesday, PCSD notified that the child had died.
The other child is still at the hospital and is expected to survive. Both kids were properly strapped into their seats.
Investigators said Marcum showed signs of impairment.
Further investigation into this crash is ongoing.
