Afternoon Rear-End Crash with Big Rig on Highway 99 in Chico Kills 1
CHICO, CA (May 3, 2019) – A woman was killed following a rear-end crash Friday afternoon in Chico, according to the CHP.
The fatal crash happened around 4:11 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 at Eaton Road off-ramp.
Authorities said a Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling at approximately 60 mph when it ran into the back of a semi-truck that was stopped on the roadway.
A female passenger in the front seat was pronounce dead at the scene. She was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, according to CHP. She was only described as a woman in her 20s.
The man driving the car and a child were injured from the crash.
Both northbound lanes of the highway were blocked, causing traffic delays.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
