Early Morning Crash on 405 Freeway at Bel Air Crest Road Kills Man and Badly Injures Female Passenger
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 8, 2019) – A female passenger was seriously injured following a fatal rear-end crash early Tuesday morning on 405 Freeway in Los Angeles.
The crash happened just after 4:00 a.m. south of Bel Air Crest Road.
According to the CHP, a 2014 Dodge Journey became disabled in the fourth lane of the freeway, when it was rear-ended by a 2019 Kenworth truck that was traveling at an unsafe speed.
As a result, the man driving the Dodge died at the scene. His name has been withheld pending next of kin notification.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the female passenger of the Dodge, 32-year-old Chevette Pugh of Los Angeles, to a hospital with major injuries.
The big rig driver, 49-year-old Craig Zackery of La Habra, was not injured.
CHP said alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
