Two Teenagers Ejected from Hood of Car near Pioneer Drive
MORONGO VALLEY, CA (September 22, 2018) – A teenager was killed and another was injured after they fell off the hood of an SUV near Pioneer Drive. The deceased victim was later identified as 16-year-old Chase Bottroff of Morongo Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 9:00 PM. A 2006 Land Rover LR3 was heading south on Juniper Avenue with Bottroff and 16-year-old Brendan Snyder on its hood. Subsequently, the Land Rover hit a raised portion of the road, throwing both teens from the vehicle.
Bottroff sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, the boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead hours after the incident.

Meanwhile, Snyder suffered less serious injuries, including lacerations. He was also transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he was later released after receiving medical clearance. The 17-year-old driver of the SUV could potentially face charges, depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
