SAN PABLO, CA (September 12, 2024) – Tuesday night, authorities arrested Charles Michael Johnson III after a horrific hit-and-run crash on 1300 23rd Street.

The incident happened on August 4, at around 8:20 p.m. on the 1300 block of 23rd Street.

According to the San Pablo Police, a silver Dodge Charger that was traveling at a high rate of speed, struck a male pedestrian, then fled the scene without stopping to provide aid. Then, authorities said that the unoccupied vehicle was later found in Richmond.

Moreover, responders pronounced the 51-year-old pedestrian, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, officers managed to locate and arrest the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Richmond resident Johnson III, on the 2700 block of El Portal Drive this Tuesday. Then, authorities booked the suspect at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of vehicular manslaughter, and felony hit-and-run.
