1 Dead in Salinas Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 and Boronda Road

SALINAS, CA (March 5, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, Charles Donoval was involved in a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Boronda Road.

The incident happened at about 10:50 p.m. on southbound Highway 101, just south of Borondo Road.

According to reports, an unknown person walked onto the number one lane of the southbound 101. Meanwhile, 73-year-old Donovan was driving a black Volvo in the same lane. Moreover, the number two lane, just behind Donovan, was an unknown driver of a light-colored vehicle.

Donovan tried to avoid the unknown person on the road by veering to his right. However, he failed and still hit the person. Then, the driver in the number two lane struck the right rear of the Volvo with the front driver’s side.

After the crash, Donovan remained on the scene to help with the investigation. Meanwhile, the driver of the light-colored vehicle fled from the scene.

Also, the pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. Also, Donovan suffered no injuries in the crash.

The authorities haven’t determined whether drugs and/or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
