Celeste Young Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 99 [Red Bluff, CA]

James Hartley Dies in Deadly 2-Vehicle Collision on State Route 99

Red Bluff, CA (June 12, 2023) On Saturday afternoon, 67-year-old Celeste Young and 54-year-old James Hartley died in a head-on crash on Highway 99.

According to the CHP, the deadly 2-vehicle collision happened around 2:55 p.m. along State Route 99, south of Champlin Slough.

Reports say that Hartley was on a Ford Ranger that struck a BMW 428i driven by Young. Officials say that the Ford Ranger veered into the opposite lane and caused the fatal head-on crash.

Authorities pronounced both Los Molinos drivers dead at the scene, while a passenger on the BMW was taken to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.

CHP is investigating the deadly 2-vehicle collision.
