17-Year-Old Teenager Fatally Injured in Collision near Romero Visitor Center and Dinosaur Point
LOS BANOS, CA (June 4, 2018) – A teenager was killed in a two-car collision on Highway 152, early Monday morning. The victim was identified as 17-year-old Celeste Valdez, a recent junior ar Pacheco High School.
The accident took place on the 152 highway near the Romero Visitor Center and Dinosaur Point, just west of Los Banos. It occurred around 2:30 AM when a Black Nissan driving towards Los Banos lost control.
Coming to a stop between two lanes on the windy and hazardous road, the vehicle was struck by another car traveling in the same direction. The second vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the Nissan, where Valdez was sitting. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal collision, but are considering speed to have played a part. No additional information was immediately disclosed to the public.
