56-Year-Old Anselmo Woman Fatally Injured in Accident near Highway 156

SAN JUAN BAUTISTA, CA (August 19, 2018) – A motorist was killed early Sunday morning, in a wrong-way crash on Highway 101. The deceased victim was later identified as 56-year-old Catherine Henry of Anselmo.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Henry was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway near Highway 156 before the collision occurred. At approximately 1:15 AM, she reportedly collided head-on with a Chevrolet Cruze.

A third vehicle, a Mercedes Benz, attempted to avoid the crash and struck the front of Henry’s vehicle. A fourth car, a GMC Sierra, also tried to avoid the crash and struck the Cruze.

Emergency medics arrived at the scene and administered medical treatment on Henry, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the Cruze suffered broken bones, while the driver was taken to a hospital in San Jose. Another passenger from a Watsonville was transported to Salinas and one person in the Sierra suffered minor injuries. There is no update on the current medical condition of either person.

The southbound lanes were closed for about three hours while crews cleaned up and officials investigated in the area. It was not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, as the investigation continues.

We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends of Catherine Henry. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
