Catherine Hein Dies in Crash on South Bay Boulevard Near Nipomo Avenue
LOS OSOS, CA (April 12, 2019) – A woman died Thursday morning after striking a parked utility vehicle on South Bay Boulevard near Nipomo Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 9 a.m.
Catherine Zwart Hein, of Los Osos, was driving a Volkswagen vehicle southbound on South Bay Boulevard at speeds of 50 mph. For unknown reasons, she allowed her Volkswagen to veer off the road and onto the dirt shoulder where she struck a utility vehicle.
According to reports, the utility vehicle was unoccupied and parked on the side of the road due to nearby construction work.
Unfortunately, the 67-year-old driver suffered severe injuries and died later at a hospital. Authorities reported no other injuries at the time, but the crash remains under investigation.
