Los Osos Driver Dies after Crashing into Parked Utility Vehicle on South Bay Boulevard
LOS OSOS, CA (April 11, 2019) – A woman was killed following a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning in Los Osos, according to the CHP.
The collision happened just before 9:00 a.m. on South Bay Boulevard, just North of Nipomo Avenue.
A Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on South Bay Boulevard at approximately 50 mph when it traveled off the roadway and onto a dirt shoulder. It then collided with the front of a parked utility truck.
The driver of the Jetta, identified as a 67-year-old Catherine Zwart Hein of Los Osos, suffered major injuries. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her wounds and was later pronounced dead.
According to reports, the unoccupied truck had been parked on the side of the road due to construction work. The vehicle was found at the intersection of Nipomo Street and South Bay Boulevard.
The scene was eventually cleared and open to traffic by 11:15 a.m. No one else was hurt in the crash.
The fatal incident currently remains under investigation at this time.
