Motorist Dies after Crashing Car into Guardrail on 10 Freeway in Cathedral City
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (January 12, 2019) – One person was killed following a car accident Saturday evening in Cathedral City, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened around 8:28 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway at Date Palm Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Dodge Charger crashed into a guardrail on the right shoulder. The driver of the sedan was reportedly trapped inside the car and passing motorists tried to get the individual out of the vehicle.
Responding firefighters had to cut off the doors so that the Riverside County coroner could remove the unidentified victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Dodge was towed away from the wreckage.
It is unknown if speed, drugs and/or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash. An investigation is still ongoing.
