Rancho Cucamonga Crash Injures Catalina Ortega-Vazquez and Evelyn Yesenia Olivas
Rancho Cucamonga, CA (November 04, 2021) – On October 25, 44-year-old Catalina Ortega-Vazquez and 22-year-old Evelyn Yesenia Olivas suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on 12505 North Mainstreet.
Reports said that Ortega-Vazquez and Olivas were crossing Versailles Street at Waterland Place.
The suspect, 41-year-old Bryna Song crossed into opposing traffic lanes, missed the stop sign, and intentionally struck both victims.
Ortega-Vazquez sustained major injuries. Rescuers rushed her by ambulance to a local hospital.
Also, Olivas sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Song immediately fled the scene after the incident but was quickly located by the authorities.
Moreover, as officers attempted to detain her, she drove her vehicle toward a deputy sheriff who was outside of his patrol vehicle. Luckily, the deputy was able to move quickly out of the way to avoid being hit by Song.
Later on, officers took custody of Song without further incident.
The authorities booked Song into the West Valley Detention Center on a charge of attempted murder. She remains in custody on $1 million bail.
