Two Dead and One Injured in Fiery Crash on Crenshaw Boulevard
INGLEWOOD, CA (May 11, 2018) – A two-vehicle collision on 108th Street claimed the life of two people, on Friday morning. The deceased vicimts were later identified as 25-year-old Catalina Garcia of Hawthorne and 27-year-old Ismael Zepeda Jr of Inglewood.
As per reports, the fatal crash happened around 9:25 AM at the intersection of 108th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, near a county fire station. The firefighter-paramedics team assigned to the station heard the crash and rushed to provide aid.
Witnesses and paramedics saw two vehicles engulfed in flames with people trapped inside. Garcia and Zepeda were pulled out from one of the flaming vehicles and received life-saving procedures, but they both died at the scene. The single occupant of the second vehicle suffered from a broken leg and other severe injuries, and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Evidence suggests that a high rate of speed played a big part in the collision, as both vehicles came to rest at around 200 feet apart from each other. Other factors are being investigated by the Inglewood Police Department at this time.
We extend our sincerest sympathies to the family and friends left behind by Catalina Garcia and Ismael Zepeda, Jr. May they rest in peace.
