51-Year-Old Woman in Intensive Care after Pedestrian Accident at 23600 Pacific Highway

 
KENT, WA (April 14, 2018) – A woman was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on Pacific Highway South near 236th Street, on Saturday.
 
Kent police received a report about an unconscious woman lying in the northbound lanes of the road at the 23600 block of the Pacific Highway. Witnesses who saw the victim, identified as 51-year-old Carol Goodnow, believe that she may have been struck by a vehicle or thrown from a vehicle that left her at the scene.
 
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident and transported Goodnow to the Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.
 
According to Goodnow’s daughter, Rosemary Goodnow, she needed to have surgery to stop the bleeding caused by a broken pelvis. The victim’s organs shifted to the other side, and she will need to undergo two more surgeries. Goodnow is currently breathing through a tube in intensive care, unable to speak, and is expected to have a lengthy recovery period ahead.
 
The suspect vehicle is suspected to be a 2008-2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, due to parts found at the scene. It is beliveed to be silver in color. There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver. Traffic investigators are actively looking for additional witnesses and searching the area for surveillance video.
