One Killed, Four Injured in Early Morning Collision at 16th Street and Avenue K in Lubbock
Lubbock, TX (September 30, 2024) On Sunday morning, 19-year-old Carlos Sanchez-Luna was killed while 4 others were hurt in a fatal crash on 16th Street.
According to the Lubbock Police Department (LPD), the horrific crash happened at the intersection of 16th Street and Avenue K.
Reports say that an early Sunday morning crash in downtown Lubbock left one person dead and four others injured. The collision involved an SUV and a passenger car.
Authorities reported that Sanchez-Luna was driving the SUV northbound on Avenue K when he collided with a westbound passenger car at the intersection. The impact caused the SUV to spin out of control and strike a tree. Sanchez-Luna was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash also left four passengers in the SUV injured. Dylan Burton, 19, and Gabrielle Perez, 20, sustained serious injuries, while Wyatt Stewart, 19, and Alexandra Sigel, 19, suffered minor injuries. All four were transported to Covenant Medical Center by ambulance.
Police are investigating the probable cause of the tragic incident.
