Homeless Man Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Pacific Avenue near Vineland Avenue
BALDWIN PARK, CA (November 6, 2019) – A man died in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash late Wednesday afternoon in Baldwin Park, officials said.
The deadly crash happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 14600 block of Pacific Avenue, just east of Vineland Avenue.
According to CHP, the man was in the westbound lanes of Pacific Avenue when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop after the crash.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. After that, the coroner’s office identified him as 31-year-old Carlos Javier Saavedra. In addition, police said he is homeless.
A GoFundMe page is established for his funeral expenses.
Police do not have a description of the driver but described the vehicle used as a gray or blue 4-door sedan.
