Carlos Rey Sotelo Killed in La Jolla Skateboarding Accident on Voight Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 7, 2021) – On Friday, skateboarder Carlos Rey Sotelo, 19, died in a crash on Voight Drive by UCSD.
According to San Diego Police Department, the incident along Voight Drive occurred at around 11:35 p.m. in La Jolla.
Reports revealed that the skateboarder lost control and fell in the middle of the road, where he was struck moments later by a Nissan Maxima.
Responders revealed that the 19-year-old, from Lake Elsinore, sustained major injuries and was later pronounced dead.
At the time of the deadly accident, he was attending the University of California, San Diego.
Lastly, the incident is under the Traffic Divisions investigation.
