1 Dead in Burien Car Crash
BURIEN, WA (September 26, 2019) – A 44-year-old man died in a head-on crash on 14th Avenue on September 23.
Authorities received a report of the incident Sunday evening just after 6:15 a.m. According to authorities, a stolen vehicle’s driver collided head-on into Carlos Recinos‘ red pickup truck.
King County sheriff’s deputies and medics came to the scene on 14th Avenue South around 8:00 a.m. After that, deputies located a pickup truck and a station wagon had crashed head-on.
Authorities pronounced Recinos dead at the scene. However, responders transported the driver of the stolen vehicle to a hospital in stable condition.
Police revealed that Recinos was driving to work when the driver of the stolen green car drove across the center line. After that, the car collided head-on into Recinos’ truck.
According to reports, the 30-year-old car thief stole the car from a White Center neighborhood near 104th Street and 3rd Avenue South.
The suspect didn’t cooperate after the collision. In addition, he didn’t give his name. As a result, investigators took the suspect’s fingerprints to confirm his identity.
“He has multiple broken bones. After he’s done being treated at the hospital, he’ll be booked into King County Jail on investigation of vehicular homicide,” said Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect had been arrested 10 times since 2017 with five total convictions. However, Abbott said that they are still waiting for the result to determine whether the suspect drove while impaired or distracted.
Our deepest regrets and thoughts are with the loved ones of Carlos Recinos.
