Despite their scrupulous creation and mapping for efficient travel, highways are among the most dangerous places on earth. Consequently, everyone must remain calm to handle the situation effectively after a collision.
In fact, on the AAA Foundation website, Chief Executive Officer Peter Kissinger repeatedly labeled the epidemic of motor vehicle-related accidents a “public health crisis.”
The following are things we should remember if we are involved in an accident:
- Before anything else, seek medical attention if you or someone with you has been hurt.
- Get to a safe place to prevent further damage or injury.
- Collect as much information as possible, including insurance and contact information for people involved in the accident and pictures/videos of vehicles involved. Also, do not forget to document faults and whatever can be used as evidence.
- File a police report or incident report by calling 911.
