Injuries Reported in PCH Fatal Traffic Collision
Long Beach, CA (November 15, 2023) – 50-year-old Carlos Ceron of Long Beach was killed in a Pacific Coast Highway vehicle collision Monday afternoon.
The Long Beach Police Department officers responded at around 5:50 p.m. to the traffic collision near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Officers said a 2010 Nissan 350Z driven by a 20-year-old Long Beach man was eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed.
At the same time, a 2017 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 50-year-old Long Beach woman made a left turn from westbound PCH to southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in front of the Nissan.
As a result, the Nissan collided with the Jeep and struck a traffic signal pole.
Afterward, the Nissan struck a pedestrian on the south sidewalk of the highway.
The Nissan driver was rushed to a hospital with minor injuries while the Jeep driver complained of pain but declined medical treatment at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner declared the pedestrian Carlos Ceron deceased at the scene.
Investigators said speed appeared to be a factor, and it does not appear impairment played a role.
Officers are investigating.
