Carlos Canizalez Airlifted in Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 165 [LOS BANOS, CA]

Early Morning Head-On Crash in Los Banos Kills One and Seriously Injures Another

 
LOS BANOS, CA (October 7, 2019) – One man was airlifted with major injuries following a fatal head-on crash early Monday morning in Los Banos.
 
The crash happened around 4:18 a.m. on Highway 165 at Corral Road, just south of the San Joaquin River.
 
According to the CHP, a 25-year-old Carlos Enrique Godoy Canizalez of Keyes was driving a Honda Civic southbound when he crossed into the center line of the highway. His car collided head-on with another sedan that was heading northbound.
 
As a result, the male driver of the northbound vehicle died at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
 
Canizales suffered major injuries and was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
 
The CHP said neither drugs nor alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
 
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
