Driver Dies after Car Crashes on 57 Freeway at Brea Canyon Road
DIAMOND BAR, CA (December 27, 2019) – A man died in a car accident late Friday evening in Diamond Bar, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. on 57 Freeway near the Brea Canyon Road exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling south when it drifted to the right. It then traveled in a southwesterly direction across traffic lanes and into a dirt shoulder. The car subsequently struck a descending dirt embankment.
Responding firefighters found the vehicle in a ravine below the freeway. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Carlos I. Silva Cabrera of Riverside, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the car.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The CHP’s Baldwin Park office asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at 626-338-1164.
