Jacob Schofield Accidentally Struck Carla Bison on Twentynine Palms Highway
Morongo Valley, CA (December 30, 2020) – On Monday, 26-year-old Jacob Schofield of Wenatchee, Washington, struck the 61-year-old Carla Bison of Morongo Valley on Twentynine Palms Highway.
The accident happened at about 8:00 p.m. west of Lanning Lane.
Bison was walking across the highway from the eastbound lanes toward the westbound lanes. At the same time, a 2019 Subaru Legacy driven by Schofield was traveling west on the highway.
As a result, Schofield struck Bison.
Immediately, rescuers transported Bison to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. She sustained major injuries.
There was heavy rain in the area during the accident. Also, CHP said Bison was struck by the left side of the Subaru after she stepped into the westbound slow lane.
Schofield stopped and helped Bison.
Meanwhile, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
The CHP reminded pedestrians to walk on the shoulder and cross only at intersections or designated crosswalks.
Similarly, they encouraged pedestrians to wear bright or reflective clothing during the hours of darkness.
Additionally, staying within the lanes of the road is an extremely important rule of the road.
