1 Arrested after Auburn Car Crash
AUBURN, WA (November 15, 2019) – Authorities arrested a car thief after crashing into a house on Highway 18 on November 12.
According to the police, a hit-and-run crash on Highway 18 and C Street involved a stolen red Mercedes. The victim reported the license plate of the vehicle that escaped. Upon checking, the police determined that it’s a stolen vehicle in Tacoma.
The troopers with the Washington State Patrol helped Auburn police to find the car. An Auburn officer found the car parked on a side street. The officer stopped to observe the stolen car. However, the driver took off, drove across the front lawn of a duplex and crashed into the house’s garage.
“I heard some yelling in the back: ‘Stop! Stop! You’re going to hit my car!’ All of a sudden there was a big boom, shook my whole room,” Jack Gearon said. “Came down here and opened the drape and I see this car out here. I open the door to walk out and I see this car out here and the cops tell me to go back in because (the driver) wasn’t coming out and then I see guns and stuff so I went upstairs.”
