Tragic Two-Vehicle Crash Claims Woman’s Life on Ventura Freeway in Woodland Hills
Woodland Hills, CA (November 21, 2024) On Saturday morning, 39-year-old Candy La Torre Zapata was declared dead after a tragic 2-car traffic crash on Highway 101.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal crash happened at 12:12 a.m. on the southbound Ventura (101) Freeway, near the Winnetka Avenue off-ramp.
Reports say that officials arrived at the scene and found two severely damaged vehicles—a silver BMW and a black BMW—surrounded by large debris scattered across several lanes.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified Zapata, who was discovered beneath one of the vehicles and pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP closed the southbound lanes at Winnetka Avenue for several hours to investigate the circumstances of the crash. A SigAlert was issued to manage traffic during the closure.
