Two-Car Wreck on Highway 50 in Camino Kills Several People
CAMINO, CA (January 15, 2019) – Multiple people were killed following a two-car crash Tuesday night in Camino, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash happened around 6:27 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50 at Camino Heights Drive.
Details are sparse on what exactly transpired, but a red sedan was located on the right shoulder and a Subaru blocking the highway. Several other vehicles stopped in the area.
Responding fire crews and paramedics provided CPR and life-saving efforts. Sadly, several patients did not survive and were declared dead. The exact number of victims and their identities were not available at this time.
Both cars were towed away for evidence.
The second lane of Highway 50 was closed in the area for nearly three hours as officers worked to clear the scene. The roadway was re-opened by 9:30 p.m.
CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
