Cameron Turner and Jason Bussell Hurt in Twentynine Palms Head-On Crash
TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA (July 12, 2019) – Cameron Turner and Jason Bussell sustained injuries in a head-on crash on Wednesday, July 10.
Just before 7:30 p.m., 19-year-old Turner of Twentynine Palms drove westbound on Amboy Road near Shady Lane. After that, he drove in a black Toyota Tacoma, towing another vehicle. However, Turner collided with a red Subaru Outback. The Subaru was driven by an unidentified 70-year-old Twentynine Palms man, who traveled eastbound.
Both vehicles spun around and ended up facing eastbound on the highway. As a result, the Subaru came to rest on the south side of the road on a dirt berm and the Toyota stopped in the middle of the road.
The driver of the Subaru died at the scene. Turner and his passenger, 22-year-old Jason Bussell sustained critical injuries. Officers extricated one of them from the truck using the Jaws of Life.
Paramedics rushed them by Morongo Basin Ambulance and the Combat Center ambulance to the Twentynine Palms Airport and Hi-Desert Medical Center. Then they airlifted both to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
