Caltrans Worker Struck by Vehicle near Van Buren Boulevard
RIVERSIDE, CA (June 19, 2019) – A Caltrans worker suffered injuries in a pedestrian crash on 91 Freeway, Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Riverside Fire Department, the incident happened at about 12:45 PM. The worker was picking up cones in the westbound carpool lane near Van Buren Boulevard. Then, one of his agency’s vehicles struck him in a construction zone.
Emergency responders transported the worker to Riverside Community Hospital with a sore shoulder. It is unknown whether or not he sustained other injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle remained and said he did not see the worker in the lane.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
