GARBERVILLE, CA (June 4, 2020) – Caitlyn Shaffer sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in Garberville on May 29.
 
Just after 3:00 p.m., William Legrain drove his Kia Sedona north on Highway 101, south of Barkdull Road. An alternate route was administered for maintenance and repairs.
 
However, another southbound vehicle struck a temporary traffic divider that divides the two lanes of traffic. Afterward, the vehicle went airborne and crashed with the Kia through the front windshield.
 
The crash left passenger Caitlyn Shaffer with major injuries. Responders took Caitlyn Shaffer to Redwood Memorial Hospital. Moreover, a child in the backseat suffered minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, William Legrain and another child in the car didn’t suffer any injuries.
 
The CHP continues to search for the suspect’s vehicle and asks for the public’s help. They encourage anyone with more information about the crash to call the CHP Garberville area office.
