Caesar Ortiz Jr. Dead in Yucaipa Rollover Accident on 10 Freeway near Oak Glen Road
YUCAIPA, CA (August 12, 2019) — A 25-year-old man identified as Caesar Augusto Ortiz Jr. died in a rollover crash on Wednesday, August 7.
The fatal accident occurred at around 2:25 a.m. as Ortiz Jr. drove a 2008 Kia Sorento westbound on 10 Freeway near Oak Glen Road, said CHP Officer Ivan Sandoval.
For undetermined reasons, Ortiz Jr. got involved in a crash and caused the vehicle to roll over. The Kia came to rest on its roof within the #1 lane of I-10 westbound, east of Oak Glen Road, Sandoval stated.
Then, just minutes later, a San Jacinto man in a 2009 Toyota Camry slammed into the disabled Kia. As a result of the incident, Ortiz Jr. succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Officials shut down all lanes of the westbound side of the freeway, according to Caltrans.
