1 Dead in Salado Auto Accident on Interstate 35 near 284-Mile Marker
SALADO, TX (May 30, 2024) – Friday, Byron Lopez Lima died in a major truck crash on Interstate 35 near 284-Mile Marker.
The crash involving a pickup truck and a truck tractor semi-trailer happened on Interstate 35 near 284-Mile Marker.
Troopers report that a Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by a 27-year-old man from Austin, Texas, was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 near mile marker 284 in Salado.
According to the lead trooper investigating the incident, an unoccupied Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer was legally parked on the improved shoulder due to mechanical issues. The Ford truck failed to maintain its lane and collided with the parked Kenworth.
Lima, a 24-year-old rear-seat passenger from Austin, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Coleman.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old front-seat passenger was transported to Baylor Scott and White in critical condition.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
