Brutal Traffic Crash on Interstate 29 Kills 3 [Watson, MO]

3 People Dead in Watson Auto Accident on Interstate 29

WATSON, MO (November 19, 2024) – Sunday morning, a brutal traffic crash on Interstate 29 killed three people.

The incident happened at around 7:22 a.m. on Interstate 29, about 6 miles north of Watson.

Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a northbound Kia Sorento collided with a 2013 Ford Focus that was traveling the opposite way. Then, the KIA continued across the southbound lanes of Interstate 29, drove into the west side of the interstate, and struck a bridge abutment, before erupting into flames. Also, the force of the crash ejected one occupant of the Ford into the roadway.

Authorities said that a northbound Volvo VNL swerved to avoid colliding with the wrecked vehicles and struck a southbound Chevrolet Tahoe.

Responders pronounced the 29-year-old driver of the Kia, dead at the scene, while his 1-year-old passenger sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an Iowa hospital for treatment.

Paramedics confirmed that the driver of the Ford and an 18-year-old passenger died in the crash. Responders airlifted a third passenger of the Ford to a hospital in Nebraska with serious injuries.

Officers said that the 32-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to an Iowa hospital for treatment.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained no injuries in the incident.

Due to the limited information available, the Missouri State Highway Patrol continued to investigate the crash.
