1 Dead in Modesto Auto Accident on Crows Landing Road near South 7th Street

MODESTO, CA (November 26, 2024) – Monday afternoon, a 40-year-old man died in a brutal police chase crash on Crows Landing Road.

The incident occurred at about 3:35 p.m. on Crows Landing Road near South 7th Street.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office confirmed initiating a pursuit in the area after attempting a traffic stop near Crows Landing Road and Boulder Avenue.

The suspect was wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, dissuading a witness, and had an additional warrant for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon, according to the sheriff’s office.

During the pursuit, the man struck a vehicle carrying a man, a woman, and a 6-year-old boy. All three were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The California Highway Patrol is also investigating the crash, and crews have closed 7th Street at the Tuolumne River Bridge, as noted in CHP online logs.
