1 Person Dead in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Kern Canyon Road near Shalane Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 14, 2023) – Thursday night, a brutal pedestrian crash on Kern Canyon Road near Shalane Avenue killed one person.

The incident happened at around 6:13 p.m. on Kern Canyon Road, just west of Shalane Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a westbound Nissan struck a man who was in a wheelchair, outside a marked crosswalk.

As a result, paramedics rushed the 66-year-old pedestrian to Kern Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at a later date.

Moreover, officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
