1 Dead in Fresno Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Olive Avenue

FRESNO, CA (November 24, 2023) – Thursday morning, a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 99 near Olive Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident happened just after noon when a big rig struck a man.

Initially, the authorities received a report of a person who had parked a car along the highway and ran into the road. That was around 11:00 a.m.

When units went to the area searching for the vehicle or person, they found nothing.

Eventually, at about 11:30 a.m. CHP received a call from a woman saying she was behind a big rig. Then, she added that a person ran out from the highway edge right in front of the trucker, and the driver swerved and missed the person.

When officers searched the area looking for the vehicle associated with this person, they found nothing.

Later, they received a third call for a man being hit by a big rig in the roadway.

They located a man from Kerman in his 50s lying in the road, a vehicle registered to the victim and a big rig pulled over.

He was transported to CRMC in grave condition. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
