1 Person Dead in Ventura Pedestrian Accident on Highway 33 near Main Street
VENTURA, CA (September 24, 2023) – Thursday night, a brutal pedestrian crash on Highway 33 near Main Street killed one person.
The incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 33, north of Main Street.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Jorge Alfaro, a southbound 2022 Chevrolet Malibu struck a pedestrian who was walking in the lanes for still unknown reasons.
Moreover, responders pronounced the victim, an adult male, dead at the scene.
Furthermore, officers arrested the Chevrolet driver on suspicion of a misdemeanor DUI offense and on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident, a felony.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the CHP Ventura office continued to investigate the crash.
