LANCASTER, CA (June 26, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a brutal pedestrian crash on 15th Street E and Avenue I killed 1 person.

The incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. on 15th Street East and Avenue I.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a … sedan was traveling west on Avenue I and struck a pedestrian who was walking west on the bicycle lane,” a sheriff’s department statement revealed.

“The pedestrian suffered major trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash,” the statement added. “The cause of the crash is still being investigated. It is unknown if speed was a factor in this crash and the intoxication of the driver of the vehicle is still under investigation.”

Furthermore, the authorities urged with information on the crash was encouraged to contact traffic investigators at the Lancaster sheriff’s station at 661-948-8466.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
